26th December 2007 – Aberdeen, Scotland - Stonehaven’s own Doug Meldrum has won a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Las Vegas having been named as the Danwood Group’s top UK salesman in 2007.
Doug, based at the Aberdeen office of Danwood, the UK’s largest independent supplier of print and document management technology, beat off stiff competition from 350 colleagues to be named as Salesman of the Year at a glittering ceremony held at the Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire. The award was made by Tiff Needell, the professional racing driver and television presenter.
Doug, who achieved 363.42% of his annual target, will be taking his partner Vicky Termain where they will experience the thrill of gambling in the world’s most awe-inspiring casinos, the legendary Blue Man Group show and a breath taking champagne breakfast in the Grand Canyon via helicopter. They will be staying at the luxurious MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, dining at some of Las Vegas’ top restaurants and travelling by limousine.
Doug and Vicky are really looking forward to taking their trip through the Grand Canyon. Doug said: “It’s a unique experience that we’d probably never get round to organising for ourselves.”
When asked the secret of his success a modest Doug said: “People buy from people and fortunately I work as part of a great team in Aberdeen with the support and facilities of a world-class organisation.”
Not one to rest on his laurels Doug remains motivated and, despite an even larger target for 2008, he hopes he and Vicky will be off to South Africa next year.
